LFK Launches Laptops for Seniors

Laptops for Seniors On May 5th the Masonic Angel Foundation formally launched its Laptops for Seniors project, a technology access program for low income senior citizens.  Laptops for Seniors (LFS) is a spin-off of the Masonic Angels’ successful Laptops for KidZ project.

our project

For today’s senior citizens, a home computer is an essential tool.  Seniors who have no computer access find themselves at a disadvantage navigating the health care system and the many other day-to-day activities of running a household. Computer access also provides social networking opportunities, which are especially helpful in communicating with friends and family – helping to avoid social isolation.

The Laptops for Seniors Project helps.  A spin-off of the Masonic Angel Foundation’s highly successful Laptops for KidZ project, Laptops for Seniors works with local senior centers to place refurbished computers with senior citizens in need of computer access.

Local businesses and individuals donate gently used laptop computers to the Masonic Angel Foundation, Inc.  The Laptop for Seniors Project’s volunteer staff refurbish the computers and make them ready for distribution to senior centers through the Masonic Angel Foundation’s existing service areas.

All refurbished laptops will be placed here in the United States.  We do not send computers to Africa, South America or elsewhere in the world.  In keeping with the MAF’s practice of “local help for locals” we make every effort to place a donated computer as close as possible to the local community where the donation originated.  Blocks of laptops donated by manufacturers and national leasing companies will be placed in communities served by the Masonic Angel Foundation’s participating subordinate chapters.
